Quick answer: how much does teeth whitening cost in Gurgaon? In 2026, professional in-clinic whitening in Gurgaon typically costs ₹8,000–₹16,000 and lightens teeth by about 5–8 shades in a single 45–90 minute visit. Dentist-supervised take-home trays cost about ₹5,000–₹10,000 and give 4–6 shades over 10–14 days. Results usually last one to three years, depending on tea, coffee and tobacco. Whitening does not change the colour of crowns, veneers or fillings. Dentaire Smile Studio, Sector 50, Gurugram · updated October 2026.

Why teeth turn yellow

Surface (extrinsic) stains

Tea, coffee, red wine, cola, smoking and chewing tobacco leave pigments on the enamel surface. These usually respond very well to professional cleaning followed by whitening.

Deep (intrinsic) discolouration

Thinning enamel with age, excess fluoride in childhood, an old injury to a tooth, or certain medicines taken during tooth development change the colour from inside. Some of these whiten well; others – such as tetracycline staining or severe fluorosis – respond poorly, and veneers or bonding are often more predictable.

Honest note: very cheap “whitening” offers are often just a cleaning with a weak gel. And if your teeth look yellow mainly because of tartar and stains, a professional cleaning alone may be all you need – I will tell you if that is the case. – Dr. Aditi Goel

Who should not whiten (yet)

  • Pregnant or breastfeeding women – please wait until after this period.
  • Children under about 16, until the permanent teeth have fully matured.
  • Anyone with active decay or gum disease – these must be treated first.
  • People with crowns, veneers or bonding on front teeth – these don’t whiten, so they may end up a different colour from your natural teeth.
  • Severe sensitivity – needs to be assessed first; it does not automatically rule whitening out.

What happens during in-clinic whitening

  1. Check-up and shade record. We examine your teeth and gums, note your current shade and take photographs to compare later.
  2. Cleaning. Surface film, tartar and stains are removed so the gel can work evenly.
  3. Gum protection. Your gums and lips are covered with a protective barrier.
  4. Whitening gel. A professional peroxide gel is applied in cycles, sometimes activated with a light, over about 45–90 minutes in total.
  5. Finishing and aftercare. We record the new shade, apply a desensitising treatment if needed and explain how to keep the result.

For take-home whitening we take an impression to make thin trays that fit your teeth exactly, and give you a dentist-strength gel to wear for a set time each day.

Sensitivity – and how we reduce it

Mild sensitivity for a day or two is common after whitening and settles on its own. If your teeth are already sensitive, we may suggest starting with take-home trays and a lower-strength gel, using a sensitivity toothpaste for two weeks beforehand, or applying fluoride varnish before and after treatment.

Making your results last

  • For the first 24–48 hours, avoid tea, coffee, red wine, cola, turmeric-heavy curries and tobacco – teeth pick up stains more easily during this time.
  • Rinse with water after tea or coffee, and use a straw for cold coloured drinks.
  • Have a professional cleaning every six months; a short touch-up with your trays once a year keeps the shade bright.

Teeth whitening FAQs

How much does teeth whitening cost in Gurgaon?

In 2026, professional in-clinic whitening in Gurgaon typically costs ₹8,000–₹16,000, and dentist-supervised take-home trays cost about ₹5,000–₹10,000. Your exact cost is confirmed after a check-up.

Does teeth whitening damage enamel?

Professional whitening with dentist-applied gels does not damage healthy enamel when used correctly. Over-the-counter abrasive products and charcoal powders are more likely to wear the enamel surface.

How long does teeth whitening last?

Professional whitening usually lasts one to three years. It fades faster with frequent tea, coffee, cola and tobacco, and a short touch-up once a year keeps the result.

How many shades whiter can my teeth get?

In-clinic whitening typically lightens teeth by about 5–8 shades and take-home trays by about 4–6 shades. The result depends on the type of staining – yellow-brown surface stains whiten best, grey intrinsic stains least.

Will whitening work on my crowns or veneers?

No. Whitening only changes natural tooth colour. If you have crowns, veneers or bonding on front teeth, we plan whitening first and then match or replace those restorations if needed.

Is teeth whitening safe during pregnancy?

We do not whiten teeth during pregnancy or breastfeeding. It is best to wait until afterwards.

Can I whiten my teeth if they are sensitive?

Often yes. We first find the cause of the sensitivity, then usually start with take-home trays and a lower-strength gel, with desensitising treatment before and after.

What is the difference between whitening and cleaning?

Cleaning (scaling and polishing) removes tartar and surface stains to restore your natural colour. Whitening goes further and lightens the natural colour of the tooth itself.
